In 2023, the NBA Hall of Famer joined the White Marlin Open in Ocean City, Maryland, chasing a $10 million USD cash prize. And although he did not win the contest that year – which might have been weird for him – Michael Jordan’s fishing boat has seen some impressive action. The Catch 23 has landed numerous big catches like a 25-pound dolphin in 2021, and a 73-pound White Marlin in 2022 at the Mid-Atlantic Tournament where he secured the top spot.

Michael Jordan Wins The Abaco 24 Fishing Tourney

Earlier this year, the NBA legend was back to dominating as he took home the title at the Abaco 24 fishing contest, one of the biggest billfish competitions in the US. Out of 197 billfish caught this year, MJ’s crew caught 10, with Jordan himself reeling in three blue Marlins and one white Marlin aboard.

Riding high from his earlier victory, Michael Jordan is back at it with his brand new $15 million USD Bayliss fishing boat. The Big Rock Blue Marlin contest, which began on June 24 would be the first to witness the greatness and power of the 82-foot monster. And Michael Jordan along with his Catch 23 team would be looking to get one up on their opponents in the tournament which would run through the week and end with an award brunch on Sunday. Like its predecessor, the Bayliss fishing boat also sports the same “elephant skin” exterior.

The NBA star has stated that he has found a hobby in fishing because it teaches him patience, he told Australia’s ABC in 2021:

“Now the challenge is to calm those nerves, that’s why I do a lot of fishing.”
